Optical character recognition (OCR), the process of transforming inaccessible printed and digital documents into accessible text, allows blind and visually impaired people to access material that would otherwise be unavailable to them. People who are blind or visually impaired have greater access to printed material than ever before, but a vast amount of material still remains unavailable in accessible formats.
